SOSRemote
interface to Cayenta Utilities now live at
Midwest Energy
Hays, KS — November 19, 2012
When Midwest Energy, Inc. went live with their new Cayenta Utilities
CIS last week, the transition was smooth for their 60 field service
techs. This was thanks to Midwest’s decision to retain SOSRemote
as their mobile workforce wireless solution. Their field personnel
have been successfully using SOSRemote, one of the software
modules that comprise InsightAtlast’s SOSMobile suite, since
2002.
Initially Midwest Energy had planned to consolidate all their
computing needs with a single vendor via Cayenta, a division of N.
Harris Computer Corporation, and their ERP Solution. They soon
realized however that giving up
SOSRemote’s
functionality, logical design and stability was not an option. It
had been the perfect solution for their remote service territories
where connectivity is an issue.
SOSRemote allows their
service personnel to download/upload orders when a connection is
available, and continue to work on the orders when there is no
connection.
Since there’s a version of
SOSRemote for virtually any device, including Smartphones,
Midwest took this opportunity to transition their field devices from
laptops in trucks to semi-ruggedized tablets. This gives their field
techs more flexibility in completing orders.
“SOSRemote’s tablet
version retains the simple screens and wizards of the laptop
version, so our service techs did not require a lot of additional
training”, said Annie Schmidtberger, Software Technology Specialist
at Midwest. “And as always, InsightAtlast provided amazing service
during this transition. We’re very pleased to be continuing our
relationship.”
Midwest’s Ed Rempe commented, “As Director of Information
Technology, I know that building an interface to a new CIS is no
small task. InsightAtlast made it look easy and the results are
seamless.”
The interface to Cayenta Utilities CIS represents the fourth unique
CIS interface for SOSMobile.

Midwest Energy opts to keep SOSRemote
as their Wireless Solution
Hays, KS — February 1, 2012
InsightAtlast, LLC is pleased to
announce that Midwest Energy, Inc. will retain SOSRemote as
their mobile workforce wireless solution despite previous plans to
consolidate all their computing needs with a single vendor via
Cayenta, a division of N. Harris Computer Corporation.
SOSRemote is one of the software modules that comprise
InsightAtlast’s SOSMobile suite.
An InsightAtlast client since 2002,
Midwest Energy, headquartered in Hays, Kansas, is a customer-owned
electric and natural gas company serving nearly 90,000 customers in
central and western Kansas. Due to their remote service
territories, connectivity is an issue for them. When they
began using SOSRemote, they found it to be the perfect
solution. It allowed their service personnel to
download/upload orders when a connection was available, and continue
to work on the orders when there was no connection.
When Midwest announced in March of
2009 that they were contracting with Cayenta as their one-vendor
computing solution, it looked as if their long-term relationship
with InsightAtlast would be coming to an end. InsightAtlast is
delighted that Midwest opted to maintain their successful
relationship and the successful solution SOSRemote offers.
“SOSRemote’s
design is logical, easy to set up, and very stable”, states Annie
Schmidtberger, Software Technology Specialist at Midwest.
“With its simple screens and wizards, it allows our service
techs to spend more time completing orders rather than getting
bogged down with data entry.
Further, InsightAtlast’s support is fantastic.
I’m thrilled we’re continuing this relationship!”
InsightAtlast is in the process of
interfacing the SOSRemote module to Midwest’s new Cayenta
Utilities CIS. This represents the fourth unique CIS interface
for SOSMobile.
